Pub_lectureCharles Holmes from Academy for Systems Change conducted a public lecture today 15th March 2015 at African Rural University Main Campus in the URDT Multipurpose Hall.  The Theme for the lecture was “What can we learn or do to increase our learning and participating in creating sustainable change”.  During this lecture, Charles introduced to the audience the tools that are used to increase people’s learning. These tools include;

Relationships: “This is the most important aspect in increasing people’s learning and participating in creating sustainable change” he says. He expounded on the techniques for building relationships which include; Expectation, Explanation and Engagement (3Es). This is called the Fair Process.

The Capacity to Create Results: Charles expounded on this using the Vision and Current Reality Methodology. He said that “Those who do not create the future they want must endure the future they get”.  He also said that “Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it! - John Anster” He added that all sustainable change starts with oneself, it goes to the family and then spreads out the community. The community can be a village, Sub County, district, country, continent or the whole world.

The audience was comprised of staff and students of African Rural University, staff and students of URDT Girls’ School, staff and students of URDT Institute, staff of URDT Farm, RCDP, IDP, and community members from within Kibaale District.
