African Rural University (ARU) and the Uganda Rural Development and Training Progra (URDT ) participated in the Civil Society Organizations (CSO) fair  that took place on June 25-26, 2015 at Hotel Africana. The theme of the Fair was ‘Leaving No One Behind: Uganda’s Place in the Next Global Development Agenda.’ Ms. Joy Samantha Bongyereire, a lecturer at African Rural University (ARU) and Ms. Namboze Flavia, a graduate of ARU and an Epicenter Manager URDT. The Fair was organized by the Uganda National NGO Forum and funded by the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF).

The overall objective of the Fair was to showcase the work of citizens and their organizations in the development of Uganda. The specific objectives were:

  • To foster learning on the Post-2015 Development Agenda for Citizen Awareness and Participation;
  • To share the diversity of CSOs’ innovations, programs and activities and their economic potential in advancing the Post-2015 Development Agenda;
  • To mobilize citizens and their organizations to demand for decisive action from their leaders on Poverty, inequality and climate change as part of the Action 2015 Global Campaign;
  • To provide space for networking, synergy and partnership building among CSOs to galvanize efforts towards realization of the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
