Microsoft East Africa Ltd through the Uganda Vice Chancellors’ Forum organized a one-day summit on digital transformation in higher education. The workshop brought together University Vice Chancellors, Deans, Academic Registrars, IT Experts and a delegation from Microsoft.
The summit took place on February 22nd, 2019 at the Kampala Serena Hotel (Kyoga Hall).
The purpose of the summit was for Microsoft to interest institutions of higher learning to use Microsoft products and services.
In his opening remarks The Executive Chairman of the Uganda Vice Chancellors’ Forum Prof. John Senyonyi (PhD) said that digitization makes things cheaper, more accessible, and makes our education more effective. It’s the way to to go for us to make education accessible and to effectively deliver in the mandate that is on our table.
Michael Rasugu – Education Lead-East Africa said that the transformative outcomes of the 21st century education include Life Ling Learning, Connected experience, Limitless research, and effective institutions.

African Rural University (ARU) is using digital technologies in research, documentation, and information storage. Cloud Epicenter are yet to be set up to have a central data collection center all the Epicentres where ARU graduates are working.
